Photo Contest Rules and Regulations

Take part in Grey Sauble Conservation Authority’s (GSCA) photo contest for your chance to have your photos in our new brochure and to be entered in a draw to win one of 5 GSCA season passes!

Eligibility

This contest is open to legal residents of Canada (except Quebec) who are over the age of majority in their province, except employees or board members of the GSCA and its affiliates, members of their immediate families and persons with whom these employees are domiciled. The GSCA and their respective affiliates, advertising and promotional agencies, accept no responsibility in any case where their inability to satisfy these contest rules arises from any situation which is outside of their control including but not limited to a force majeure or a situation of strike, lock-out or other labour strife in the GSCA’s workplaces or in the workplaces of any organization or entity whose services are involved in running this contest.

All photos must be taken at one or more of these GSCA properties:

Photos must be taken from trails and/or designated viewing areas and must reflect permitted uses. Photos taken from out of bounds areas will be disqualified.

Categories

Submit photos in three categories:

  1. Healthy Exploration

    Get outside and enjoy all the physical and mental health benefits of being in nature at a Grey Sauble property! Snap an action photo of your favourite activities.

  2. Fantastic Flora & Fauna

    Grey Sauble properties are home to thousands of species of plants and animals. Remember to always respect the wildlife when taking photos.

  3. Embrace the Chill

    Grey Sauble properties are amazing to explore in the winter too! Strap on your snowshoes and send us your snowy shots!

  4. Built Feature Fun

    There are many great built features on Grey Sauble properties such as interpretive signs, pavilions, and historical sites. Show us how much you appreciate these awesome additions!

  5. Lovely Landscapes

    You can't beat a picturesque view! Let’s see your favourite wetlands, forests, shorelines, and lookouts.

Photo Format

High-resolution jpeg files suitable for print reproduction.

Entry

Photos must have been taken at one of the above listed Grey Sauble Conservation Authority (GSCA) properties on or after January 1, 2017. Photos must be submitted electronically via the GSCA website or send a flashdrive with high-resolution images to:

Photos must be submitted by the photographer. Entries without a valid phone number and email address will be disqualified. Illegible entries, bulk mailings, reproductions or copyrighted items are ineligible. Submitted materials will not be returned. You may also submit images online, by filling in the fields and uploading your photo, below. NOTE: WE WILL NOT CONSIDER LOW-RES IMAGES. Digital files should be at least 5 megapixels, or 2560 x 1950 pixels; image quality setting: high. Colour correction and tonal cast changes are acceptable; photo alterations, such as manipulating the composition, as well as added watermarks or signatures, will be rejected. Entries that do not meet technical requirements will be automatically rejected. NOTE: if you’re using a mobile device, ensure your camera is set to the highest resolution possible.

File names must include:

  • Photographer’s name
  • Location the photo was taken
  • Date the photo was taken

Entries and Photo Release

You must own all rights to the photos submitted. By entering the Contest, you represent and warrant to GSCA that the Photo will not violate the rights of any third parties or any applicable laws. All Photos submitted are deemed to be granted a global, non-exclusive license to GSCA and/or its affiliates in perpetuity and by entering this Contest, entrant hereby assigns non-exclusive global right, title and interest, including, without limitation, copyright in the Photo and its underlying elements to GSCA. Entries not complying with these contest rules will be disqualified.

With regards to any photograph submitted to this contest, the entrant, or the owner of copyright in the photograph, retains copyright. By uploading or submitting any photograph to this contest, the entrant grants the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority a royalty free, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any purpose, including, but not limited to advertising and promotional materials, its website, exhibition, and commercial products, including but not limited to Grey Sauble publications without any further notice or compensation to the photographer.

The submitted photo must never have been previously published, exhibited publicly, or selected as a winner in any other contest. The submitted photo must never have been previously licensed or sold for any type of commercial use.

Deadline

All photos must be submitted before January 4, 2021

Prizes

Photographers of photos selected for the new GSCA Brochure and winners of the GSCA season passes will be contacted via phone and/or email. Season pass winners may be required to pick up the prize at GSCA Administrative Office or may have the pass shipped to them via Canada Post. By uploading or submitting any photograph to this contest, the entrant grants the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority a royalty free, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any purpose, including, but not limited to advertising and promotional materials, its website, exhibition, and commercial products, including but not limited to Grey Sauble publications without any further notice or compensation to the photographer.

Conditions of Winning

Mailed entries must be post marked by the contest closing date, January 4, 2021. Online entries must be submitted and received by the contest closing date, January 4, 2021. To be selected as a winner, entrants must comply with the following conditions: 1) have read and complied with the contest rules; and 2) sign a standard declaration and release form confirming compliance with the contest rules, acceptance of their prize as awarded and releasing GSCA and their affiliates and each of their respective employees, officers, directors and agents and their respective advertising and promotional agencies from any damage or loss that may result from entering this contest or accepting and/or utilizing a prize.

Contest entrants agree that the GSCA and their affiliates and each of their respective employees, officers, directors and agents, shall in no way be liable for any claims, damages, losses, costs, however arising as a result of entrant’s or winner’s participation in, or the award or use of the GSCA’s products pursuant to this contest.

General Conditions

The GSCA accepts no responsibility for entries lost, misdirected, illegible, incomplete, delayed or destroyed or for the failure or malfunction of any hardware, software or telecommunication component relating to online entries. The GSCA has the right to terminate or suspend this contest or to modify the contest rules at any time without notice for any reason whatsoever.

All entries become the property of the GSCA, who assume no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged or misdirected entries or for any failure of the website during the promotional period, for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by GSCA on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the GSCA reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.

By entering the contest selected winners agree to comply with these official contest rules and agree to the publication, reproduction, and/or other use of his/her name, statements about the contest, and/or personal photograph or other likeness without further compensation, in any publicity or advertisement carried out by the GSCA in any manner whatsoever, including print, broadcast, or digital.

Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are illegible, mechanically reproduced, mutilated, forged, falsified, altered or tampered with in any way. Entrants agree to abide by the Contest Rules and the decisions of the independent judging panel, which are final.

The judging

The decisions of the judging panel are final with respect to all aspects of the contest. The contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws. No correspondence will be entered into except with the selected entrants and individuals requesting a copy of contest rules. The odds of an entry being selected depend on the number and quality of eligible entries received by the contest closing date. All entries, including photographs, become the property of GSCA and none will be returned.
