COVID-19 Guidelines for Guided Hikes:

  1. Complete a self-screening the morning of the guided hike.

    Find the self-assessment here.

  2. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or have come into contact with some experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, please stay home.

  3. Follow the guided hike guidelines for navigating nature during COVID-19:

  • Hikers may choose to wear masks or pack a mask for situations where physical distancing might be a challenge.

  • Hikers may bring hand sanitizer, bug spray, sunscreen, etc., but should not share with the group.

  • Hikers must always maintain physical distancing (6 feet/2 metres) from other hikers that are not in their “social bubble” of 10 people. Please provide space for other hikers to pass safely.

  • Please leave your dogs at home for guided hikes.

  • Avoid touching surfaces.

  • Amenities like washrooms and garbage receptacles may not be available, so please plan accordingly.

  1. Hikers who experience COVID-19 symptoms following a Friends of Hibou/GSCA Guided Hike must inform their local public health unit.

    I acknowledge and confirm that I have read the COVID-19 guidelines for guided hikes and I agree to follow those guidelines (type initials below).

Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability:

I acknowledge that this activity in which I am participating and/or my child/ren are participating, organized by the The Friends of Hibou in conjunctions with Grey Sauble Conservation Authority (GSCA) and/or its partners, involves risks which are beyond the control of the Friends of Hibou, GSCA and its partners. Notwithstanding the acknowledgement of such risks, I hereby release the Friends of Hibou, GSCA, its partners, contractors, employees, agents, assigns and executors from all claims for damage however so arising as a result of my participation in this and any other activity organized by the Friends of Hibou, GSCA and/or its partners. I agree to pay the cost of my emergency evacuation of my person or belongings that may be necessary. I affirm that I am aware of the nature of this activity, its length, duration and degrees of difficulty and that I am properly equipped and physically able to participate. I have no medical or other condition which might preclude my participation. I agree to follow the directions of the leader and any assistants at all times.

Further, I acknowledge and accept that Grey Sauble Conservation is not cleaning, sanitizing, and/or otherwise treating any exterior surface(s) to prevent against the transmission, spread, or communication of COVID-19 or other contagious, infectious or communicable disease, illnesses or viruses, bacteria or other pathogen.  In consideration of my being permitted to participate in the activity of guided hike, I agree to assume all risk associated with any transmission, spread, communication, infection, etc associated with COVID-19 or other contagious, infectious or communicable disease, illnesses or viruses, bacteria or other pathogen. I agree that the Friends of Hibou, Grey Sauble Conservation Authority and/or its partners shall not be liable for any claim, action, occurrence, accident, loss, damage, injury, cost, expense, fees, charges, fines, penalties or other amount that, directly or indirectly, is, or is alleged, to be caused by, contributed to or results or arises from (in whole or in part, regardless of any other cause or event contributing concurrently or in any sequence and notwithstanding any continuous or repeated exposure to) covid-19 or other contagious, infectious or communicable disease, illnesses or viruses, or the fear or threat thereof.

I give permission for Friends of Hibou and/or Grey Sauble Conservation Authority (GSCA) to take and use still or moving pictures taken of me during this event in promotional material that may be distributed in print, through social media, or other outlets. I understand that GSCA will own the rights to this photo/moving picture and that no royalty, fee or other compensation shall become payable to me by reason of such use.

***The Grey Bruce Health Unit is declaring a critical threshold of COVID-19 cases in Grey Bruce***

Due to the surge in local COVID-19 cases, we are asking that people stay home and refrain from visiting conservation areas for the next 48-hrs to help adhere to the request from the local Medical Officer of Health.

Currently closed properties are: Eugenia Falls (seasonal closure), Indian Falls (seasonal closure)

Most Properties and Trails Are Open! We would like to remind all visitors to GSCA properties to use caution this time of year, as trails may be slippery due to ice and snow.
