The Plantation is Established
A suitable site for the plantation is identified and the land is prepared for planting. Specific tree seedling species are selected for planting based on the site conditions.
After the seedlings are planted, “stand tending” occurs, which involves spraying surrounding vegetation with herbicide so it does not outcompete the newly planted seedlings. Survival assessments are then completed for 5 years.
If there are any problems with the new trees during this time, remedies are implemented such as selective re-planting, filling in bare areas, and additional stand tending.
