WREN School Program – (Fee schedule)
School programs take place at conservation areas across Bruce and Grey counties. The cost of the program is dependent on the number of staff and length of program. An additional fee is charged for staff mileage to certain locations (with the exception of the Niagara Escarpment and Lakeshore Processes programs).
The maximum number of students per program per leader is limited to 40 (excluding the “Spring Stations” program where the limit is set at 120). We require that at least one teacher and/or parent helper per every 10 students for safety reasons.
Classroom teachers are responsible for lunch time supervision of students.
Curriculum Programming includes topics such as: Habitats (wetlands, forests and meadows), Geography (sand, water and land formations), Weather (Myth and Fact, forecasting, water levels and snow), Wildlife (waterfowl, insects, fish, survival and species at risk), Plants (wildflowers, weeds, stumps and seeds), Special Seasonal (orienteering, winter survival, snowshoeing and Inuit games) and in school.
DEER Program – Sponsored by Bruce Power
A cooperative effort between Saugeen Conservation and Bruce Power, these programs are offered to all Bluewater District and Bruce Grey Catholic District school board schools, free of charge, and deal with various aspects of the local ecosystem, as well as energy conservation.
