Flood & Erosion Control Infrastructure
Grey Sauble Conservation Authority (GSCA) owns and maintains several dams and flood/erosion control structures throughout the watershed. These structures play an important role in managing water levels, reducing flood risks, and protecting local communities.

Flood Control Structures
Clendenan Dam (Beaver River)
The Clendenan Dam was constructed to prevent sheet ice from moving downstream into the Village of Clarksburg. By controlling the flow and movement of ice, the dam helps reduce the risk of ice‑related flooding and protects nearby properties and infrastructure.
Taylor Street Detention Pond (Wiarton)
The Taylor Street Detention Pond is a 2‑hectare stormwater management facility designed to temporarily store runoff during major rain events. By reducing peak flows within Taylor Street Creek, the pond helps mitigate the risk of flooding in low‑lying areas of Wiarton.

Recreation Dams
GSCA also maintains a number of recreation dams throughout the watershed. These structures help sustain local water levels that support wildlife habitat, recreational activities, and healthy fisheries.
Recreation Dams Maintained by GSCA
Rankin Dam, Owen Sound Mill Dam, Inglis Falls, Bognor Marsh, Shallow Lake, Berford Lake, and Haines Dam (removed).
Privately Owned Dams
Any other dams within the watershed are privately owned, and GSCA has no control or maintenance responsibility for those structures.
