Low Water Response
Low rainfall and extended warm weather can lead to reduced streamflows and groundwater levels. These conditions may impact municipal water supplies, limit the water available for agriculture and industry, and place stress on local ecosystems.
Levels of Low Water Conditions
The Low Water Response Program has three condition levels. The levels are based on streamflows and rainfall.
Conditions are within normal limits.
Flows are less than 70% of their normal summer low flow and/or precipitation has been less than 80% of average.
Actions: Water users are asked to voluntarily reduce consumption by 10%

Actions: The Water Response Team may ask the Province to impose mandatory restrictions.
Water Response Team
The Grey Sauble Low Water Response Team meets when needed to review stream flows and weather information. If necessary, it will declare a Low Water Condition for all or part of the Grey Sauble watershed. The Team includes various representatives from the Grey Sauble Watershed.
The team assesses rainfall and streamflow during drought conditions and determines the appropriate level of response. Actions may range from issuing public updates that encourage water conservation to advising the Province on water allocations and potential water use restrictions.
