Flood Notices
Active flood notices are displayed through the flood status graphic on our website’s homepage. These notices are communicated directly with municipal officials and emergency services, shared with local media, and posted on our social media channels.
Municipalities and emergency services are responsible for communicating these notices to relevant staff and departments. They also activate their municipal emergency response procedures, which include taking appropriate steps to warn residents.
Types of Flood Notices
There are five types of flood notices that are issued to local media and municipalities, depending on current watershed conditions.
No flood conditions currently exist.
High flows, unstable banks, melting ice, or other conditions may pose a danger to the public but flooding is not expected.
Early notice of the potential for flooding based on weather forecasts predicting heavy rain, snowmelt, high winds, or other conditions that could increase runoff, cause ice jams, or lead to lakeshore flooding or erosion.
